Interesting, there is a near identical thread going on on Friends of Wisdom too.

There is no doubt active personal decisions are important, basically
anything that reduces "consumption" and inefficient transportation.
Every little helps. No one sympathetic to Zen, could deny the "tending
our own garden" adage. Every journey of a thousand miles starts with a
single step, etc.

I applaud that list Dan; I doubt I could hit 40% of that, and I have
to admit being addicted to driving for the pleasure of it. (Ligtweight
open top sports, for the same reasons some of your are addicted to
motorcycles - in the frame.)

Global warming is real (enough) - the Stern report convinced me. Yes
the environment is chaotic, and no, no-one will ever prove warming is
"caused" by human activity - so all pronouncements ate political /
rhetorical, by definition. I actually don't care whether global
warming is real or proven - dreadfully outdated SOMist concepts
anyway, proof, reality and causation. What matters is recognising
higher quality patterns of behaviour, and evolving towards them.

My main reaction to these lists of personal contributions to lower
consumoption and fairer trade, is wonderful, but "is that all ?".

Any human (with the freedom of choice) can (and should) take part in
this "turning away" from consumption. But what should MoQ'ers (with a
great trick up our sleeve) do in addition ?

For a start we could spread the word that debates about whether things
are "proven" or not are themselves contributing to global warming and
without value.
