[Platt] Liberal Kennedy got us into Vietnam, liberal Johnson expanded the war and authorized use of Agent Orange, continued by liberal Nixon.
[Ron] I believe what got us into vietnam and Korea was Eisenhowers anti communism expansion agenda Some sort of policy was introduced by him to fight communism globally. These were cold war Years remember. Agent Orange was used to kill foliage eliminating places for combatants to hide, unfortunately It was dropped on troops in the field. DDT was banned Because the toxin did not dilute, if you ate fish that ate DDT carring insects you ingested DDT In small doses this is fine but don't eat lots of fish or birds or anything else that consumes DDT exposed Insects it accumulates in your body until toxic levels are reached then your screwed. Sort of Like mercury. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 22, 2007 3:55 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MD] What "moral revolution" is called for by the MOQ? Seems to me a good compromise. After millions died. > Also from Wikipedia, "In the summer of 1972, Ruckelshaus announced a > ban on virtually all uses of DDT in the U.S., where it was classified > as an EPA Toxicity Class II substance." Nixon, Rockefeller and the like were liberals in disguise. One must distinguish between conservatives (the less government, the better) and the Republican Party. > For a more historically balanced account of why and how DDT came to be > banned in the US (part of which had to do with a country still > gripping with the Republican authorizing of of Agent Orange use in > Vietnam... conservative-sponsored chemical warfare left a bad taste in > many mouths (pun intended)), see the Wikipedia article. Liberal Kennedy got us into Vietnam, liberal Johnson expanded the war and authorized use of Agent Orange, continued by liberal Nixon. What that has to do with DDT I haven't the faintest notion. A complete reading of the Wikipedia article shows there is still debate among scientists as to DDT effects on humans and the environment, much like the current debate about global warming. ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/ moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
