In defence of the BBC, whom I still suppport, I'd say that their radio and on-line coverage still seems second to none in scope and depth, even if the BBC TV news has gone the way of most entertainment TV. But as I said, the most important quality of news is variety of sources anyway. Any one source is always risky.
