A brief note... The very problem is that a monument (supposed to be art) should NOT be like the photo... simply because we *already have* the photo. My art teacher at school taught me that -I was eleven. My father -a photographer- then confirmed. If the city of New York wants a monument to celebrate the heroes, well, simply take an artist and give her/him the duty to build a monument. If the artist is a good artist, well she/he will be able to create a masterpiece.. whatever it will represent. A monument should not represent the truth. The city of New York should not decide what the monument will show. The Giant (social) should not prevail over the artist viewpoint.
