wow, that almost hurt. I thought the topical restrictions were lifted just
as the posting one-per-day requirement was lifted. It seems to me that not
e'eryone is interested in Wookies and Critters (Wiki and Crit) as we newbies
were just trying to get used to the old 'not-so-prolific' format. So, by all
means i will oblige and give my analysis and suggestions on how i think this
list should be run. However, i'm a little unnerved by the possibility that
my email would be overlooked by the endless bickering over the endless
blow-by-blow details of the aforementioned Wookies and Critters.

And - By all means, you can skip my analysis and see my meager
point-by-point suggestions if you'd like. But i might have something
interesting to you between those and this paragraph.

One thing i'd like to mention is a couple of the operating assumptions that
are floating around behind the discussion of what to do with the list. The
first one i'd like to beat from under the rug is the assumption that "the
list has to be active and generating dialogue almost every month". I think
that's ludicrous. I mentioned before the concept of 'comfortable silence',
but i don't know if that got through, and i actually enjoy comfortable
silence. Its kinda like those authentic cowboys Pirisig referred to in ZMM
who talked at a leisurely pace.

Another thing i'd like to jump on is the other newbies talking junk about
how they'd like to see what the list has done so they don't get redundant. I
dunno about them, but i've been mulling over ZMM (Read 4x) for about six
years and Lila (2x) for about two years and i've got a couple ideas to throw
into the fray. Therefore methinks the CONTENT of the list should remain open
to any topic, new or old.

And right above the issue of content is the issue of form, i.e. Wookies and
Critters. I'd personally rather not have to go through a lot in order to
talk about the MOQ. Hotmail works just fine for me. Therefore i am OPPOSED
to changing the medium (email format) of the discussion group. Hopefully i'm
not the only one, and if i'm not please chime in.

the fourth point i'd like to make and second assumption i'd like to examine
is that we need to come up with some type of communal document or statement.
We could simply commission someone to whip up a summary of what the Lila
squad is all about, and all put in supporting or dissenting opinions like
the Supreme Court Justicies do. To me, the concept of one 'concencus
document' or 'mission statement' for the whole Lila squad is a load of
hooey. Especially since within the MOQ itself the highest value is dynamic
intellect.

DOWN HERE!!! this are a few suggestions that i bliped about b4
1) keep the one-per-day posting limit, but fudge the one-per-month topic
limit and the moderator. I apologize if i believe in other people's
self-restraint.

2) have each person write up their own document or summary of what they
think both the MOQ and the Lila squad is about and let others comment on it
but not change it. you could post this on the website linked to each
person's biography. Btw, who do i contact to put one up (email me personally
with that info please)?

3) perhaps weekly, bi-weekly or monthly a person volunteers to put out his
or her own views, questions and/or concerns about the MOQ. Whoever is
intereste we all responds and so forth. This way the democracy doesn't
usurp the individuals' interests. I think that democracy is a social-level
phenomenon and capitalism is an intellectual (individual-level phenomenon)
thereby disagreeing with Pirisig. Oops! i actually said something about what
i came here for. Apologies!!! This lecturer-audience setup allows a person
to set terms in order for the rest of us to understand the intricacies of
the lecturer's views instead of trying to follow four conversations at once.

Thanx for reading

this mailing list and other methods of discussing the MOQ - e.g. WIKI, CRIT
etc.

Please DO NOT post anything that is not directly relevant to the above
