You can also set most program under Vista to run using an older OS (right click and properties). I actually can't complain about Vista. I've had no trouble running any of the programs I use for analysis (including old DOS-based and batch driven programs). You can email me directly if you would like more details ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). I have not tried it myself, but can early next week if you have the time to wait over the weekend. However, I know that many computer companies will install XP instead of Vista if requested. Alternatively, you can purchase an OEM version of XP for about $80US and install it yourself. I just did this to replace Vista on a laptop that I wanted to run Rhino3D and the MicroScribe G2 on for an upcoming conference. Other than downloading about 6-8 drivers from the manufacturers web site, the install was painless. If you'd like more technical details, or for me to try a MicroScribe G2 with Vista on Monday, let me know and I'd be happy to provide the details either directly or through this forum. I must buy a laptop or notebook but all of them comes with windows vista. I know that many people have compleins with windows vista. So I have some doubts if the drivers of microscribe are compatible with Vista and I want to be sure that I can use the laptop with the miscroscribe. Any help is great. Thanks Lic.
