There is some software (that is by now somewhat old but it may still work)
on the webpage:
http://life.bio.sunysb.edu/morph/soft-archive.html
There are two files, STRAN1 and STRAN2. They also contain useful information
about the properties of the median axis transformation.

Does anyone know of a program that will calculate a medial axis
function?
