Subject: DA or CVA?

Dear morphometricians,
a very simple question for you, please.

What's the difference between CVA and DA?

They're often used as synonyms. Sometimes, DA is used when only 2 groups
are avaialable and CVA when it's a multigroup DA. Other times, it seems
that the term DA is preferred when the purpose is to classify specimens
and the term CVA when the focus is more on ordinations rather than on
proportions of correctly classified specimens.
If this is all, they're just differences in terminology.

If I remember well, however, there's a more subtle and more substantial
difference which is, possibly, explained in Numerical Taxonomy, that
unfortunately I do not have handy.

I'd greatly appreciate your comments and advice.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Andrea
