Does the command line "java -version" work? Sounds like it might not be
set up to find Java from the command line. The subsequent errors are
simply misdirection resulting from the first.
By "the program executes when I access it directly", you mean
double-clicking the jar file, right? The GUI part of the OS knows where
java lurks.
A standard java install should take care of this, but you might have to
edit the environment search path. I would try a java reinstall before
messing about with that.
I would be interested in the output of "java -version" when you get it
working.
