Thanks for the replies everyone. It works in some browsers but not others. The problem may be a Firefox setting. Otherwise it's a javascript issue due to the website being generated with software like Dreamweaver or Wordpress, which by default use the latest version (they naturally want to push everyone to buy new hardware).
If people would generate their websites to work in older browsers, they would work in newer ones, but it doesn't work the other way around.
