There are two open positions in my laboratory. Both are funded by an NSF
CAREER grant, and can begin after March 1 2005. The first position is a
two-year Postdoctoral Research position. The second is a Research
Assistantship for a Ph.D. student. A description of the Postdoctoral
position is below. If interested, please contact me by email at:

Postdoctoral Researcher in Evolutionary and Ecological Morphology

A postdoctoral position is available to study the role of ecomorphological
variation on the evolution of species interactions and community structure
in Plethodon salamanders. The position is part of an NSF-funded CAREER
project in the laboratory of Dean Adams, Department of Ecology, Evolution,
and Organismal Biology, Iowa State University. The position calls for
geometric morphometric analyses of cranial morphology in various eastern
Plethodon across single and multi-species communities, in an effort to
quantify patterns of community organization relative to species
interactions. Primary responsibilities for this position include: 1)
conducting laboratory research in quantitative morphology, 2) maintaining
laboratory databases and requesting/retrieving specimens from museum
collections, 3) analyzing data and writing manuscripts, and 4) helping to
coordinate projects of undergraduate students involved in the project. For
additional information concerning this and other research projects, please
refer to the laboratory web site (http://www.public.iastate.edu/~dcadams).

Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. in ecology, evolution, or a
related field. Strong quantitative and statistical skills are required, and
training in geometric morphometrics is preferred. Salary is $30,000 plus
benefits, and funds are available for two years pending satisfactory
progress. The position can begin as early as March 1 2005. Review of
applications will begin immediately and continue until a candidate is selected.

To apply, please send a cover letter, CV, and names and e-mail addresses of
three references to Dean Adams ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), Department of
Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology, Iowa State University, Ames, IA
50011-3223, USA.

ISU is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
