The freeware program Edgewarp reads CT and other medical images in
Dicom format, and produces a grayscale volume which can be navigated and
landmarked by the usual Edgewarp tools.  The landmark, sectioning,
navigation, and export tools are the subject of a manual from 2002. The
Dicom reader tools are newer, and technically unreleased, but they run
from a simple TCL/TK file that can simply be invoked verbatim (there are
no adjustable parameters). Anyone interested can find the current
executable, for linux or mac systems with OpenGL, at
