Hi, I am new at morphometrics and I would like to study the surface area of a group of algae. My problem is that they are nearly cylindrical thalli or better they have an elliptical transversal section. I took photos with a reference to calculate their measures, but when I consider their surface area I can't avoid the bias due to the thikness of the thalli. I cannot afford a 3D scanner and I do not know how to solve this problem. I would appreciate any help from the list members. Thanks in advance Milena
