Dear morphometricians

On behalf of all the organisers, I am pleased to announce the
FIRST UK ONE-DAY MEETING ON MORPHOMETRICS AND STATISTICAL SHAPE ANALYSIS

26 January 2009
Michael Smith Building, Faculty of Life Sciences
University of Manchester

The UK is privileged in having sizable communities of researchers
interested in shape analysis that are partly based in life science
departments or medical schools and partly in statistics departments.
Yet, there has only been a modest amount of interaction between these
communities.
The primary aim of the meeting is to bring together the communities of
researchers in statistics and the biological and medical sciences who
are interested in the analysis of shape. We hope that the meeting will
be an opportunity to engage in interactions across disciplines and maybe
will stimulate collaborative projects at the interface of statistics and
the life sciences.

The meeting will feature talks by the following speakers:
Adrian Bowman, Department of Statistics, University of Glasgow
Peter Hammond, Institute of Child Health, University College London
John Kent, Department of Statistics, University of Leeds
Huiling Le, School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Nottingham
Leandro Monteiro, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Hull
Paul O'Higgins, Hull York Medical School

In addition, there will be the opportunity for other participants to
present posters. At the moment, we think there will no need to limit the
number of posters. Accordingly, we anticipate that we can offer the
opportunity to exhibit a poster to every participant at the meeting.
There will be ample time for viewing posters, as well as for informal
discussions among participants.

Organisers:
Chris Klingenberg, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Manchester
Alfred Kume, Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science,
University of Kent
Leandro Monteiro, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Hull

Additional information on the programme and the registration form are
available on the meeting web site:

Best wishes,
Chris
