For something simple I'd recommend either Didge (Windows only) or
Tracker (Java, works on anything). These are both free but a little
hard to find online as I remember. I can send you both if you have
difficulty - although have a look first since there could well be more
recent versions. For something more complex (3D analysis etc) I've
heard good things about DLDdv but I've never actually used it. It's a
free Matlab script and you can download it as supplementary material
from:

Tyson L Hedrick (2008) Software techniques for two- and three-
dimensional kinematic measurements of biological and biomimetic
systems. Bioinsp. Biomim. 3.

Hello morphmets,

this is to ask a question a bit outside purely morphometric interests.
In my investigation group we've conducted some locomotion experiments
and are looking for a software that can perform under the general title
of "Motion Analysis". We basically want to quantify basic movement
characteristics (speeds etc) and perform gate analyses in lizards that
were filmed running under different conditions.

Does anyone have experience (both positive and negative will help) with this kind of software? I've been searching in the net, but the field is
too wide (from golf to biomedicine) and I couldn't conclude in any
preference. As always, being something relatively cheap is quite important.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for this,

Cheers,
Antigoni
