Subject: Data File Format Conversion

Does anybody know of , or have, a program to share that will convert
among the various data format styles of the different morphometric
analysis programs. There are a few mentioned on the StonyBrook
morphometrics site, but most are out of date in their capabilities, or
associated with broken links. In any case, none will address the
conversion I need at the moment.
I am particularly interested in converting a Morphologika files into an
NTSYS file. I would use M_Vis for this, but that program seems to be
particularly sensitive to Morphologika data structure, and so gives me
an error even though the file runs fine within Morphologika. (Yes, I
could “fix” the file, except that I have no idea what the problem is
from the perspective of M_Vis).
To the programmers out there, may I suggest that every program contain
the ability to read/write NTSYS format. Many programs already do this,
but not all. And, those programs that offer this ability frequently
create an NYSYS-like file that cannot actually be read by the NT-SYS
program.
Yes, I am proposing NT-SYS as the standard, especially since it sort of
already is. NTSYS should be preferred over TPS (the other current
“standard”) only because NTSYS also works for 3D (or higher D) data,
while TPS is strictly 2D.
