Dear morphometricians,

My name is Jikhan Jung, a graduate student in Dept. of Geoscience at
University of Iowa. I've been working on a new morphometric software,
named "Modan". Now I think it's ready for some real world tests.

Modan provides features from data acquisition to analysis/visualization.
You can digitize 2D or 3D landmark coordinates (no semilandmarks, yet),
define wireframe and baseline using Modan, and all the data are stored
in relational database via SQLite engine. You can easily edit all the
data and Modan also provides ways to import/export data, including .tps
format or Morphologika 2.5 data file. In analysis, you can use
superimposition method of your choice, and the result is instantly shown
in PCA result (CVA will be added, sooner or later).

It's still far from what I've been planning, but at least now you can do
basic morphometric analysis in Modan. So, if you're interested, please
take a look and don't hesitate to contact me with bug reporting, feature
suggestions, etc.

I've given a poster presentation of Modan earlier this month in
International Paleontological Congress 3, at London. Most of the people
who showed interests asked if it supports semilandmark. Not yet. I'll be
working on semilandmarks, soon.

You can get Modan through project homepage at:

http://code.google.com/p/modan
<http://code.google.com/p/modan>
Also, there are brief guides for installation and basic operation at
Wiki section of the project homepage, available at

http://code.google.com/p/modan/wiki/InstallGuide
http://code.google.com/p/modan/wiki/QuickStartGuide

Modan is an open-source project, so you can use it for free. Anyone can
participate and help making it a better tool.
