Alright, in my narrow ecological thinking, I've reserved the term metric
to refer to community median "niche breadth" and "overlap" as
approximated by variance in morphological measurements. 

For example: "The metrics of these communities are are decoupled..."  

I'm wondering if "metric" was used correctly, or if "measurement" would
have been more correct.
