Diane The Stealing Beauty lesson flopped for me because, unlike all the other lessons in the toolkit, none of my students in grades 4 or 5 found the text interesting. Yes, the text was for adults, and though I thought it very interesting, the kids couldn't get enough out of it to maintain interest in what I was modeling. I plan to find another text to use with the same lesson. Jennifer Maryland In a message dated 9/16/2006 8:39:26 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
About the "Stealing Beauty" lesson...isn't that the one where the teacher models his/her use of the strategies--with a piece written for adults? (I don't have my kit at home.) I'm wondering how/in what way that one flopped. If you don't mind sharing, how did (or will) you change it? I'm planning on starting the kit in one week and would greatly appreciate any help.
