Hi, Stephanie,
I teach 4/5 in a poor, inner-city school. So far as I know, I'm the only
teacher who's read MOT. My kids loved making connections once they
understood what it was all about. It took 3-4 stories. The first year I
did it, I started with Text to SElf connections because that seemed the
easiest for me to teach. This year, I'm going to start with text to text
because of connecting it to theme. We read biographies last week (skipped
the story in the text) and I need to remember to make my instruction more
specific. Good luck! I try to remember that what I'm really teaching is a
love of reading!
Chris

>Hi All,
