Now that is really, really sad. But if I were leading this brainstorming session, I wouldn't accept that as an answer. I would simply state that tests are not the reason we do anything, that tests just tell us how well we do it, and that some tests don't even do that very well. Then I would ask the question again. And again and again and again if need be. Frankly, I would worry horribly if this were the only answer students could come up with.
