Another little persuasive book -- "Can I have a Stegasaurus, Mom, Can I, Please" by Lois G. Grambling
It's a 1995 book for 2nd or 3rd grade level, I think, in which the kid's arguments are pretty well elaborated. My wife just came across the 2001 Weekly Reader edition. Haven't used it yet, but it will be good, I think, for getting kids to elaborate their reasons.
