Now I agree that once a week--you are not going to see major gains. But, if you use the information you get from the fluency checks to drive your instruction you will see positive gains over time. Mary Anne I can tell you that we aren't using the information to drive instruction as we are mandated to use the Houghton Mifflin series in a specific order. I personally think that we are doing it so we can document why Susie shouldn't go to the next grade level.
