I worked in a school district a few years back where By Brother Sam  
is Dead was used for a 5th grade class to teach the Revolutionary  
War.  There is some "language" in the book and it caused a bit of a  
stir for the teacher.  I do, however, think the kids enjoyed the  
book.  Maybe more appropriate for middle school students.
