I have to say I totally agree with you and totally disagree. This is what the wonderful feds and the nclb has done to us. word study-phonics is not scientifically vocabulary it is part of systematic phonics and they all have to be segregated to qualify as the five components of good reading instruction. Whereas good instructors have always used the components we now had better know how to separate them. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
