At this level, I liked to use as much commercial print as possible, ranging
from Frog and Toad/Little Bear/Danny and the Dinosaur-ish, Minnie and Moe,
all of Rylant's work to early chapter books--Cam Jansen (and the Young
series as well), Magic Treehouse and so on. Fountas and Pinnell's white
book allows you to check commericlal text by level and build purchase orders
in that way.

If restricted to guided reading, I would purchase widely rather than from a
single publisher. I liked Rigby PM books, Red Brick nonfiction. I
purchased title by title, following characters in a series or looking for
titles related by theme.
