I did want to respond to Beverlee.  I see both sides of using the programs you 
talked about.  We use DIBELS, and Saxon Math.  I am not fond of DIBELS and have 
found the conversations here very meaningful.  On the other hand, I also see 
how using the programs you discribed has helped the student population. In our 
building and in yours, there is such a variety of teaching styles and beliefs.  
As students change teachers each year, if we did not have a common language the 
student gets lost from year to year.  I use strategies for reading and the 
program we have to as part of Reading First.  Reading First does support the 
strategies in Mosaic.  Our comprehension module was totally about using these 
strategies.  Our fluency module supports repeated readings, prosody, etc.  Now 
all teachers are on the same page as far as what we are supposed to do and 
actually are doing a better job.

I feel your frustration, but see both sides.
