Their questions are not about reading comprehension. If the group wants to

Except they are about reading comprehension.

If you recall Michelle's original question, she asked how she can teach
the reading comprehension strategies she knows are right, when she will be
starting a new job, won't have tenure and may not be in a building that
believes that comprehension is anything but remembering what one has read.
The students have submitted their questions to me before posting and I
am guiding them to address comprehension issues. Michelle had submitted three
questions. One of them had to do with teaching in Florida, where Michelle
plans to get her first job. She has heard a lot about scripted programs and
using DIBELS for high stakes decisions in Florida. I suggested that rather
than
ask about teaching in Florida, that she use the question about following her
conscience rather than what is mandated. So it is tied to comprehension and
your answers will help her a great deal with being a first year teacher in
Florida trying to teach children MOTcomprehension strategies. Thanks so much
to
all of you!

Sincerely,
Nancy Creech
