Hello everyone!
It is my great privilege to moderate the mosaic list while Ginger is on
sabbatical. She leaves very big shoes to fill but I know you all will help me
to
keep the conversation focused as well as enlightening to all who participate!

As a way of introducing myself to everyone, I thought I would let you know a
little of my background. I have been teaching for 15 years now. I was a late
starter...worked in business out of college and then took a pay cut to become
a first grade teacher...a move I have never regretted. During my time in
first grade, I became National Board Certified...something that I am very
proud
of. Since then, I moved into the position of reading specialist and also
teach Diagnosis of Reading Difficulties part time.

My interests, naturally are comprehension strategies but also staff
development and teacher training. I already moderate two listservs here in
Maryland: one for Maryland National Board candidates and one small one for the
reading specialists in my district. It was a very great honor to be asked to
moderate this list which has been a crucial part of my own staff development
for
the past several years. I have been a frequent participant in discussions and
have signed all my email as Jennifer, Maryland.

We have had some amazing conversations over the summer and as the school
year starts, I hope that this can continue to be the place to share thoughts
and
ideas about reading comprehension and reflect on our teaching in a risk-free
forum.

I know you all will join me in wishing Ginger a restful sabbatical and look
forward to her eventual return at the end of one year.
Jennifer
