I teach fifth graders. For the past five years, I've been starting the year with *The Watsons Go to Birmingham 1963.* That book has done the trick every single year. The kids start out listening politely and I can tell the exact minute that they sit up straighter and listen more carefully. And I explain to them that the reason they're loving this book is that Curtis writes so well they can visualize every scene so clearly. And we're off learning how to visualize...and loving every minute of this book. _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
