I read A Night in the Country by Cynthia Rylant but I don't show the kids the pictures. I have them draw what they are visualizing and reread and talk with a partner to add to their drawing. Then we sort the descriptive words by senses and discuss what we could add. We generate list of descriptions and then at the end the kids write a poem about the book. They do a great job. I am always amazed! Sue
