I am very interested in retelling. I wonder if we are testing memory or the ability to retell. Did Joetta Beaver discuss this issue. Did she suggest ways to teach retell? Maxine

She recommended that teachers spend some time at the beginning of the year teaching retelling skills Before giving the DRA2. That way you have a truer picture of the students' comprehension. Is it a lack of critical thinking skills or simply lack of practice in retelling.
