Do any of you have personal knowledge of the books written by Michael Grinder?
All the reviews of one of his books I read were either 5 or 1. I can't decide
if it would be worth it to invest in a book or just play it safe and see if I
can ILL it or something. Any info is appreciated. Thanks. Bev from Nebraska

Bev,
Michael Grinder has been, without question, one of the most beneficial
influences on my teaching career and personal life. His book EnVoy is
wonderful for classroom management. It provides much of the "science," if you
will, of management. There is also A Healthy Classroom with the subject of
classroom dynamics and the art of classroom management . Righting the
Education Conveyor Belt, if I remember correctly, begins to take you into
learning and teaching styles/modalities. I believe he was working on a book
about "Cats and Dogs" but I am not sure if that has been published yet--I would
imagine it has. I looked at the website and it looks like it is titled
Charisma... This is good stuff. He also has some work on non-verbal
communication which is amazing The Illusive Obvious). As wonderful as the
books are there is nothing that compares to seeing and learning from him in
person. I can't tell you how brilliant of an educator he is. If you are going
to go the book route, I would suggest beginning with EnVoy and then I think I
moved to A Healthy Classroom and then Righting the Education Conveyor belt's
(note sure of exact title-I don't have the book in front of me). Finally I
would read the Charisma book, Classroom Magic and The Illusive Obvious books.
I you would like to talk more you are welcome to contact me off of the list.
