One of our building coaches presented these two strategies during a teacher 
training last summer.

1.  Reading selection with labeled diagram, captions removed.  Readers used 
their own visualization in combination with prior knowledge to come up with 
missing labels.

2.  Given a descriptive passage about an insect, readers then drew the 
accompanying illustration.
