Hi. I am new to the site and am just overwhelmed, in a good way, with all the resources this site has to offer. I am a 2nd yr teacher and am working toward my Masters' in Literacy K-6. While somewhat familiar with Mosaic of Thought from previous grad classes, I've never read the book cover to cover. I am trying to get a copy of it at school, but in the meantime I wanted to get some clarification. In my class I use the "7 Keys to Comprehension": Visualization, Making Connections, Questioning, Drawing Inferences, Determining Importance, Synthesizing and Fix-Up Strategies. Are these the same as the ones used from Mosaic? If so I'm looking or more info on synthesizing-is this when a student can use all of these strategies and know when and why to use them? As far as Fix-Up strategies, are these things like rereading, skipping a word, using context clues, etc? Thanks for sharing. ~Kecia, 6th gr. _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
