We use the DRA2 also and when we used it for the 1st time last Sept. our
kids' scores were lower than the scores of our first graders on the "old"
DRA the year before.  I think it was because the retelling rubric on the
DRA2 is more demanding and also because the kids were supposed to make a
connection to the story and to explain why they liked a particular part of
the story. They could not do those two things, fresh out of kinder.  

Now I am wondering if there's some way to use a resource like The Power of
Retelling and hook it up with Strategies That Work . . . hmmmmmm . . .
anybody got any ideas on this?
