It varies within our district from building to building. Our two larger elementaries have computer labs in addition to classroom resources. In one school, classroom resources consist of 4-6 desktops, in the other, there are laptops available for every student in 4-5 classrooms. In one building, every room has smartboards while the other school is just beginning to put some in rooms. All buildings in the district have DDN capabilities, meaning we can conference with one another and take advantage of Distance Broadcast learnig opportunites. All teachers have a district assigned laptop, most have classroom cameras. In some buildings, there are computer teachers and generally these folks are also the techies in terms of routine trouble shooting. All buildings have wireless, but it definately works better in some buildings. We have district level support, and I have to say our team is top notch in terms of responding to classroom and building needs. These folks also provide classes and workshops to building teacher understanding of programming and technology options/possibilities.
How this technology is used is a different story and varies with the comfort level and expertise of the classroom teacher. Does that help?
