Deciding which one would be appropriate will depend on a few things - the
primary comprehension toolkit has just been released so those that actually
have it in hand are the first people to be seeing it and using it in the
classroom - I am anxious to hear what those of you who have it, think!

I am a Literacy Coach and I have used the intermediate toolkit at a variety of
levels including Kindergarten. Obviously modifications concerning the sample
texts, articles and my vocabulary with the kids are made depending on the
situation. When going into a classroom I take into consideration the age of
the students, their previous comprehension instruction, the range of reading
levels in that classroom and their background experiences. The principles of
comprehension instruction are easily adaptable for all grade levels.

So... whether you need the intermediate or the primary will depend on your kids
- their previous comprehension instruction (if they've had any), their
background experiences and their reading levels.

Again, I'd love to hear from anyone who is trying out the Primary Comprehension
Toolkit.

Sincerely,

both the primary and intermediate comprehension toolkits. I teach 3rd grade and
was wondering which toolkit would be better to use. I've heard the intermediate
toolkit is pretty challenging for 3rd graders. I plan on going through the
kit(s) this summer and breaking the lessons into 15 minute mini-lessons so I
can use them during Reader's Workshop. Any input on which toolkit would be more
appropriate for 3rd grade would be much appreciated. If anyone else has used
these toolkits to create mini-lessons I would love to get your advice on how
you went about it. > > Thanks,> Casey> > -----Original Message-----> From:
