We don't give the lexiles to kids...we teach them how to choose just right books. We use lexiles solely to guide teacher selection of books for guided reading groups rather than making kids choose their SSR books from a particular level. They are also used just as one of several measures of growth from year to year. Jennifer

We could not find a beneficial way to share it with kids. Our library isn't set up that way, so what would kids do with their level? Then we have them wanting to know exactly what a level of 980 means? However we never had anyone in our district really figure it out and work with us on it. If someone from lexile had done a presentation for us perhaps they would have helped us see its use.
