Some good, high interest, inexpensive books are The Bluford Series from Townsend press. They are a dollar a book and HUGELY popular at our junior high. Reading levels are around 5th grade.

The population will consist of sixth through 8th graders reading two or more years below grade level. I am all over the nonfiction reading but selecting fiction is going to present a challenge as we must take care to interest and intrigue without overwhelming or insulting. Please share any thoughts you might have.
