Thank you Lori...you said exactly what I was thinking!  Assessment is so key 
here.  I had an EXTREMELY low class this past year, and two of my lowest boys 
had so much schema for science and history that they loved nonfiction...and 
they struggled only with regard to word analysis.  Desperately needed to 
learn/apply monitoring and fix-up strategies as well. Best advice to any 
student on the list...do not make generalizations about your students.  You 
really need to assess each individual to best meet their needs.
