Good morning and welcome!

I taught 6th grade for two years in an elementary setting, so I might be able
to address your question. I didn't use daily journals. I had a writers
notebook and for other subjects something called an Interactive Notebook (which
wasn't absolutely true to the concept, because of my county/state standards).

Each morning as part of their morning work students had to write the Essential
Questions (objectives of each class, if you will) in each respective notebook.

During writer's workshop was when we did more "journaling" type writing (but it
wasn't really journaling!).

Good luck,
Kristin/CO/4th

how do teachers in fifth grade incorporate the students' writing in their
daily journals to plan for instruction in content areas?
