I am so partial to anything by Chris Van Allsburg that I might exaggerate the benefits of his books, but with that said I would do a think aloud with something like The Wretched Stone The Sweetest Fig Witch's Broom The Stranger any of those that you haven't read because the monitoring comprehension will absolutely flow as you read and think out loud. I always hold a cut out "thought bubble" up to my head when I am sharing the thinking, rather than the words of the book.
