We have been using Investigations in our district for the past 3-4 years. This
year we are piloting the newer version that is written in a more user friendly
manner. It definitely teaches the students the why and lets them discover that
there is more than one strategy to use and still get the correct answer!
We are also using CGI for problem solving. It is interesting to see the
different processes our students go through to solve the same problems.
Seeing their thinking and reasoning, developing strategies that are effective
and efficient and listening to their explanations have been eye opening!
