Hi All: I have our Parent Literacy Night coming up this month.? We always meet by grade level and don't plan as a whole school.? We usually read The Stranger to the parents and demonstrate and have them participate in various reading strategies.? I'd like to try something new--does anyone have something that worked really well for you to involve the parent?.? Oh--I teach 4th grade.? Thanks for any suggestions--I always learn so much from you. Deb (FL4th) Hi Deb! We've had booths-one each for a component of balanced literacy- that are staffed by teachers. We also have a book walk (like a cake walk) and a read-aloud corner with a rocking chair, a lamp and a rug, with teachers reading books aloud. My team usually staffs the at-home literacy table, where we have information in English and in Spanish about at-home literacy activities. I've also made a cd of some of this information read aloud, so parents can listen to it in the car, at the gym, etc. Alissa Pearce [EMAIL PROTECTED] Alissa Pearce Literacy Specialist Weatherford Elementary x23677 _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
