This is a pretty slow response but the book is Welcome Comfort and its also one 
of my favorites. Its hard to find. I had to order it She also wrote A Christmas 
Tapestry. And An Orange for Frankie. (Also a Christmas story). Another great 
book that we use when collecting items for gift boxes for needy children is 
Boxes for Katja (not by Pollacco but similar style)
