Dave,

I am using textmapping with my first graders for the first time this week and I have a question for you. Would you give children a scroll of a complete text (around 20 pages) or would you divide the text into sections? My children will be working in groups of 3 or 4. I have copied the book so that I have a complete text for each group but am wondering if maybe I should divide the text between two groups. We are studying conventions of nonfiction text (Debbie Miller). I will be modeling for them and we will work together across days before I send them off to work on the scrolls in these small groups.
I would love to hear your thinking.
