I have used them for a few third grade readers who have solid higher-level
comprehension and decoding ability, and fifth graders of most ability
levels. They are 1-3 page articles on a huge variety of topics of interest
to children, I would say up to 7th or 8th grade, and then I would go to the
ones written for adults. I have used them often for small group guided
reading for every comprehension strategy, as well as for decoding and even
fluency. They are high-interest and lead the kids to voluntarily do
research to follow up on the topics. Many of the books in the series are
available at bookstores, so you can see one for yourself. There are also
joke books and puzzle books in the series but I don't use those.

I hope that helps!
Maureen
PS, the ones for adults are great to own!
