Wouldn't you know that after my post on reducing the emphasis on strategy
instruction... my district coach asked if i would consider piloting a
program
that teaches the strategies across leveled texts.... hmmmm curious how out
of synch it all becomes...

anywho... here's my question...
District is comparing Making Meaning by the Developmental Studies Center
with Sundance -New Bridge's publications of their Comprehension Strategy Kit
,
and Stephanie Harvey's Primary Toolkit... I want to be sure I have my
impressions correct and need feedback from any of you who have either piloted
or
are using any of the above programs...

My impression is that the primary toolkit by Stephanie Harvey spotlights
strategy instruction only across non-fiction texts.

I'm thinking Making Meaning would probably be the most bang for the buck
because it threads the strategies across leveled texts...and it has a community

piece that is evident with their focus on talking about books

I was least impressed with the Sundance Publications because the strategy
instruction seemed very lesson specific to a particular text....

Am I even close?????????
