Barb, I am not sure what the purpose of your read aloud is but, I have always found the beginning of BFG by Roald Dahl to be a great read aloud starter. The scene where Sophie is looking down the street at night from her upstairs window and watches the BFG peering into the windows of houses on her street always grabs kids.
or the scene in Hatchet when the plane is going down.... or great pic books.... My Brother is a Pain in the Back Seat by Dale Bulla (everyone kids and parents alike will relate), or White Dynamite and Curly the Kid by Bill Martin has a wonderful rhythm you can get into as you read and the ending is a sweet surprise. anything by Eve Bunting. good luck, Gina _________________________________________________________________ Windows Liveā¢: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_t1_allup_explore_012009 _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
